Bank of America hosts mortgage modification event

Bank of America is hosting another event to help struggling homeowners avoid foreclosure.
The event started yesterday at the Embassy Suites in Tigard. It runs through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based bank has invited 4,600 homeowners to the event. So far, 211 have registered.
Homeowners with a Bank of America mortgage can attend the event for free and speak face-to-face with a Bank of America mortgage specialist to learn about foreclosure avoidance programs. Homeowners should bring mortgage documents and proof of income and residency. Local nonprofits will also be on-site to offer assistance.
Homeowners are encouraged to register in advance in order to ensure they bring the proper documents. Registration is available online a www.bankofamerica.com/homeownerevent or by calling (855) 201-7426.
The bank has met with more than 21,000 homeowners at such events nationwide this year.
The Embassy Suites is at 9000 S.W. Washington Square Road in Tigard.
The last appointment each day starts at 6:30 p.m. Appointments last two to three hours.
It is the bank’s third such effort in the Portland area this year.
