Call Kamala Harris and tell her: Stand strong and prosecute the banks

With California ground zero for the housing crisis, our Attorney General, Kamala Harris, has a unique opportunity and a unique responsibility to punish the bankers who drove our economy off a cliff. But she’s under significant pressure from the Obama administration to cut a deal that lets the banks off the hook for unscrupulous mortgage and foreclosure practices.

Hi, my name is John Wright and I live in San Jose California.

As a constituent, I expect Attorney General Kamala Harris to represent the people of California, NOT Wall Street.

She did the right thing when she pulled out of settlement talks and declared her intention to investigate the banks. Now is not the time to back down and sell out Californians.

I know she is under enormous pressure to go back to the negotiating table and join a 50-state settlement that would give immunity to banks accused of unscrupulous mortgage and foreclosure practices.

I urge her to continue to stand strong and prosecute the banks no matter how hard Wall Street and the politicians in Washington, DC pressure her to let the banks off the hook.

We have received comments alerting us to the length of the recorded message at AG Harris’s office. After selecting English or Spanish, and once the menu of options begins, you can press 7 to reach the voicemail box for comments. The automated voice mail system at AG Harris’s office is open during regular business hours Monday through Friday, but is down from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

We know it’s frustrating to receive a busy signal or to have to listen to a long recording to leave a comment with the Attorney General. We’re frustrated, too, and we wish there were a more efficient way to call and leave a comment with Kamala Harris’s office.
